The year 2018 is ending and we are about to embark on a new year. Today is the last day of 2018, it is a day of reflection. We will reminisce about all the things that happened this year, the good and the bad. Thinking back on all the resolutions we made at the beginning of the year. Some things we accomplished and some fell by the way side. Every time a new year comes, we are always hopeful that this is the year we become all God wants us to be. This will be the year you write a book, start a business, get a new job, leave a toxic job, go back to school and the list goes on and on. A new year always seems to bring hope. Hope that this year will be better than last year. Hope that we will not repeat the same mistakes of last year.
I don’t know about you, but it seems every year I am always missing the mark. I start the new year out strong and seemed to fade by the end of the year. I put down all my goals and only seem to accomplish one or two of them. I don’t want to do the same thing again in 2019. I want to be focused, steadfast and unmovable. We must keep our eyes on the prize. In Philippians 3:13-14 it says, “Brothers and sisters, I do not consider that I have made it my own yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the [heavenly] prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” If you did not accomplish all the things you wanted to do in 2018, do not let that stop you from continuing to push forward. We must learn how to press on, forget the past and keep moving forward until we accomplish what we set out to do.
This new year let us not just be hopeful but let us be purposeful. Write out your vision and goals. Put them on the refrigerator, on the wall by your bed, in the bathroom, by the door or any place that will remind you each day of your goals. Make a vision board. Talk to God each day about your goals. Ask for his help and guidance.
2019 is the year to step out in faith and just go for it. It is the year to be all that God has called us to be. Thank God we made it through 2018. Thank him for his provisions, protection, guidance, and help. Thank him that we have another chance to be all he wants us to be. Step boldly into 2019 knowing that God has already worked everything out. He has opened doors and move all obstacles out of the way. He is just waiting on us to be obedient. We are not going to let anything stop us this year from being all God wants us to be.
Happy New Year and God bless you.
