We have just celebrated Thanksgiving, feasted on good food and socialized with family and friends. Many of us have thought about all the things we have been thankful for. This time of the year causes some of us to reflect on all the things God has blessed us with. I have been thinking about God and all that he has brought me through and I just want to thank him for another day. He did not promise me I would see another day and I am thankful that he blessed me with another day.
A lot of us assume we will see another day. Many times, we take God’s blessings for granted. We tend to forget the things God has blessed us with that we see every day. For instance, the sun and the moon that provides us with light in the daytime and night. The air we breathe, the clouds in the sky to name a few. We need to be thankful for all the things God has blessed us with.
When we assume that we will see another day, we tend to put things off that we could have done today, until tomorrow. It is one of the reasons why so many of us do not do the things God has instructed us to do. It is also why some of our gifts and talents are not being developed and used to glorify God. We do not value the time he has blessed us with. Time waits for no man. It keeps on moving whether we are moving with it or standing still. As I get older time seems to be passing by faster every year. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to leave this earth and have not accomplished all that God has for me to do because I thought I had more time. I wish I could get back some of the time I wasted in my youth. When I was young, I assumed tomorrow would surely come. Now that I am older, I am thankful for every second I have the breath of life.
We all need to be thankful for another day. Think about all the trials and tribulations that God has brought you through. I am thankful for another day because I know that God is a healer. He healed me when I was 24 years old from a kidney infection. Now 33 years later and I am still here. I have not had any problems with my kidneys and they are functioning fine. I give God all the praise for all that he has done for me. If you woke up today and you are having a pity party about life and the issues you are dealing with, think back on all the things God has brought you through and change your pity party into a praise party. Thank him for another day. All we have is today; this moment. Start enjoying life, stop complaining about what you do not have and be thankful for all that you do have.
In 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 it says, “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” We need to have an attitude of gratitude. In the good times give God thanks and in the bad times give God thanks. Always be thankful for whatever situation you find yourself in because he is a refuge in times of trouble. Nothing should bother us when we have God fighting for us.
We need to take time today to thank God for all he has done for us. For the past two weeks I have been writing down every day what I am thankful for. This has given me a different perspective on life. I now have a more positive and upbeat attitude. I challenge you to start each day by writing down all that you are thankful for and see how your view of life will change. We need to understand that every moment of our lives is precious. Don’t waste a moment being down and depressed. Be thankful for today. Look up, look around and see the beauty of the world around you. In every circumstance you find yourself in, give him thanks. Thank God for another day.
