Tomorrow starts a new year. A year of new beginnings, new goals and new aspirations. Today is New Year’s Eve, a day to reflect on all the things that has happen this year. It’s a time to reflect on whether we have accomplished all the goals we set for ourselves at the beginning of the year. It’s a time to reflect on all the things God has brought us through. Also, it is a time to reflect on all the blessings from God. Even though everything might have not turned out like we expected, we still made it through another year.
When I think about all the things that happened in 2016, I praise God for helping me make it through. I thank God for showing me that I am stronger than I thought I was. The times when I thought I would lose my mind, lose my temper and just give up, then I would read God’s word, pray or just listen to praise music and my perspective about what I was dealing with would change. I love Psalm 121, “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.” This Psalm lets me know that God is our helper, our keeper and he is our protection. Whatever we are going through God will help us make it through. He will not let the righteous be forsaken.
I just want to encourage you, in 2017 when it feels your world is turning upside down, just look up because our help comes from the Lord. He will not let us fall. Yes, we may stumble, but he will not let us fall. All we have to do is put God first in everything we do and he will help us make it through.
In the coming year just remember God is with us every step we take. He will never leave us, nor forsake us. I don’t know about you, but I am thankful that God loves us so much that he is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. All we have to do is look up, cry out to him and he will come and see about us.
Happy New Year! May God bless you with the desires of your heart.
