Why is it so hard to take each day as it comes? I am always thinking ahead. Thinking about the what ifs. God wants us to take each day as it comes. He does not want us to worry about what might happen tomorrow. He wants us to trust him and believe he will take care of the what ifs. In Proverbs 27:1 it says, “Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.” Even though, I know this, I still have a hard time shutting my mind down. Some days when I lay down to sleep my mind will replay everything bad that happened that day and then I think about what might happen the next day. Then when I wake up the next day and I am tired from lack of sleep, since I was up most of the night thinking about what might happen.
In Matthew 6:25, 34 it says, “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Therefore, do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” This scripture tells us not to be anxious about anything, just take each day as it comes. God does not want us to be worried because each day has its own issues. If we worry about the next day, we will forget to enjoy the day we are presently in. Sometimes, we are so worried about what might happen that we forget to enjoy what is happening now. Every one of us are living on borrowed time. We do not know if we will see tomorrow and today might be our last day on earth. God does not want us to worry about the next day and forget to live in the day we have.
We must trust that God will bring us through whatever situation we are facing. He tells us in 1 Peter 5:7, “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. God wants to take care of the things that concern us because he cares about us. He cares about the things that cause us anxiety and worry. Today give your problems to God and let him work them out for your good. Enjoy every moment that you are on this earth. Learn how to lean and depend on God to get you through the rough days. Find something to be joyful about on these days. Take your cares to him and leave them there. Take each day as it comes.
