Why do the Praise Team and Worship Leaders have to plead with people to praise the Lord? Some Christians do not understand that we were created to praise and worship God. Or they know that were created to praise him and just refuse to do it. Yesterday at church service, we had a Praise and Worship Service for Women’s Day. We praised him with songs and with the preached word.
A lot of people in the congregation got their praise on, but some just sat there and observed. I cannot understand why some people find it hard to praise God. It does not take much for me to praise him. When I think about my life and all that he has done for me, it brings tears of joy to my eyes to know I serve a God who is so amazing. When I think about how he healed my body and how he has protected me from danger seen and unseen, I cannot help but praise him. I take nothing for granted, not one second or minute that I am on this earth. I know I am blessed because I have a God who loves me. In Isaiah 43:21 it says, “the people whom I formed for myself that they might declare my praise.” We were formed to declare praise to God. We were formed to give him glory and honor.
What does praise and worship mean? Praise is the expression of approval or admiration for someone or something. Worship is showing reverence and adoration for a deity. Praise and Worship gets our focus off ourselves and gets our focus on God. It helps us enter his presence. If we draw near to God, he will draw near to us (James 4:8). There is no better feeling than being in his presence. When we are in his presence, our problems do not feel so large or overwhelming. When we are in his presence, he gives us peace that surpasses all understanding. When we are in his presence, we can hear a word from God.
Our praise gets the attention of God. Psalm 37:4 says, “Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. God is like a father and he loves it when his children gives him praise and honor. Our praise causes him to bless us with the desires of our heart. If we want to get his attention, we must praise and worship him out of the depths of our heart, minds and spirit. He does not want any fake praise. He is looking for true worshippers that will worship him in spirit and truth.
Today get your praise on. Tell God how much you love him and care for him. Praise him for his many blessings. Praise him for helping you navigate life. Praise him for solving your problems. Praise him for healing your body. Praise him for salvation. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Don’t let another day pass by without giving God glory and honor. He deserves our praise and so much more.
