Are You An Overcomer?

Are you an overcomer? Have you been through trials and tribulations and thought you were not going to make it through? Where it seemed every area of your life was being disrupted? Your finances, health, and relationships. Before you can handle one issue here comes another. You cry out to the Lord in prayer asking for help, because you are under so much stress and strain you can hardly handle the pressure.

Maybe your friends and family have turned their back on you and you feel all alone.  In 1 John 5:4 it says, “For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world – our faith.” This verse is telling us that those who belong to God are overcomers. Despite what we are going thru, we should not have any doubt that we will make it. Our faith in God gives us victory over every situation and issue. We trust and believe that God will help us make it through. His word says, “He will never leave us nor forsake us.” We must believe his word is true. We must believe he is working everything out for our good.

The dictionary says the word overcomer means to gain the victory, win, or conquer.  An overcomer has the victory, they know they will win. Overcomers can successfully deal with every problem and issue because they do not overcome in their own power, but they lean and depend on God. They put their trust and faith in God. They don’t turn away and run when things get difficult. They know that overcoming requires complete dependence on God. They know if they take their problems to God, he will work everything out for their good.

Being an overcomer does not mean you are perfect. We all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. When overcomers sin, they fall on their knees and ask God to forgive them of their sins. When they finish praying they get up off their knees and keep on doing the will of God. They do not let any distractions or hindrances stop them doing what God gave them to do.

Are you an overcomer? When things get hard are you going to give up or are you going to continue to press on? Today put your faith and trust in God. Believe that you can overcome any situation because you are a child of God.  The victory is already won.
