Is God’s Grace Sufficient?

Grace

What is grace?  Why does God give us his grace? Is God’s grace sufficient?

Grace is the unmerited favor of God.  (Romans 1:18-3:20) Grace gives us access to the power of God.  We did not do anything to deserve grace, it is given to us because of God’s love for us.  Christ paid our debt, that’s grace.  We deserve death for our sins, but God showed us favor.  He allowed his only begotten son to die on the cross for our sins, redemption and salvation.

Through grace we have the power to live this Christian life.  We have not done anything to earn the favor of God.  Romans 3:10 says ““There is none righteous, no, not one;”.  We are not righteous, but God makes us righteous.  He is the only one that can clean us from all iniquity and sin.  The only thing we truly deserve is death, because we all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23).

Let’s think of all the things we have done wrong  that God still forgave us for.  His love is so amazing.  When we can cry out to him at any time and he continually hearkens to our cries.  He continually gives us chance after chance and we continue to mess up.  Sometimes I think of all the chances God has given me to get things right in my life.  I think about times I’ve messed up by going to the wrong places and being with the wrong people.  God still showed me love and gave me another chance.  God’s grace is why today I can lift up holy hands to him in praise for all that he has brought me through.

I remember being 24 years old and I had a kidney infection. It took a year for my body to be healed.  I know it was God’s grace that helped me make it through and gave me the strength to persevere.  I did not have the relationship I have today with God.  Yes, I went to church, I prayed and believed that God would heal me.  But, back then I had not surrendered total control of my life to God.  I still had one foot in the world and one foot in heaven.  I thank God for healing and delivering me.  I have never had another issue with my kidneys.  Only God can give you total restoration.  Only God can cleanse you from the inside out.  He is the only one that can change a sinner into a saint.  Yes, God’s grace is sufficient for us.

God’s amazing grace gives us access to his power.  The power we have access to through Christ Jesus helps us to live right.  This power helps us to talk right and walk right.  Where would we be without his grace.  Maybe lost and all alone, searching after things to fulfill our flesh and our selfish desires, but our souls would still be in despair.  God’s grace is sufficient for us.

When we are weak, God is strong.  He strengthens us and helps us carry on.  His grace is sufficient.  Our God is more than enough.  He is all we need to make it on this earth.  He is the only one who can help us navigate life.  He is our strength; he sustains us.  When we cannot take another step God steps in and carries us to the finish line.

Our God is amazing.  His word is true. In 1 Corinthians 12:9, it states “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”  When we are weak God gives us His strength.  He helps us to keep moving, keep striving.  God’s grace is sufficient for us.
