Feeling Inadequate – Part 1

Feeling Inadequate pt1

Have you ever had feelings of inadequacy?  Where you felt that you did not measure up to the task or assignment you have been given? Where you felt that you lacked the skills or knowledge to complete the task you were given? I don’t know about you, but I have felt this way many times. Many times I have felt that I did not measure up and felt defeated before I even started.

Many of you are probably are feeling this way right now.  Maybe God is calling you to do something you never did before?  Sometimes we feel inadequate because we have to do something new.  We are required to step out of our comfort zones, but we let fear stop us.  We let other people stop us.  We let the unknown stop us.

Maybe the place you are going, no one has been before and you can’t ask anyone you know for insight.  Sometimes God leads us to a place where we have to blindly follow His lead.  A place where we have to be obedient to His will.  A place where we don’t know where we are going or what we are going to do once we get there.

Right now I am experiencing feelings of inadequacy.  The Lord has placed on my heart to write my first book.  I have had the dream of writing a book since I was a teenager.  I am afraid to take the next step because I feel I will not be able to complete the task.  This is unknown territory for me.  I don’t have anyone to call for advice.  I can only trust and depend on God to help me through the process of birthing my dream.

Believe in God1

I have to believe that God knows what he is doing and he will not lead me astray.  Take a look at Jeremiah.  God tells him in Jeremiah 1:5, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”  God had chosen him from the womb to be his prophet to the nations. God told Jeremiah he had plans for his life before he was born and he is now calling him to step out in faith and walk out the plans he has for him.  God had a set assignment for him to accomplish.  This applies to us too.  God has set assignments for us to accomplish.  He has dreams and visions for us to birth.  He just wants us to step out boldly into the deep end into our destinies.

Jeremiah 29:11 states, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

God has plans for our lives, so His glory can be manifested on earth.  He just wants us to trust him and put him first in everything we do.  He wants us to be obedient when He calls our name and go where he sends us without hesitation or fear.

I know it sounds easy.  But I am a witness that it is not easy.  To manifest our dreams requires us to diligently seek after God in his word and in prayer.  We have to be attuned to his will.  We have to know when he is speaking to us. “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.” (John 10:27 NIV)  Yes, you probably are feeling inadequate right now and you can’t see the road ahead of you.  Just know that God has not brought you this far to leave you now.
